The project, titled "Empowering University Youth to Improve Human Rights of Young People from Vulnerable Groups" with the short name "Rights Project," aims to empower university students in the context of discrimination and human rights within the scope of the European Union's European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) program.
Implemented by the Youth Services Center Association (GSM), Mardin Joint Women's Cooperation Association (MOKİD), and Uğur Mumcu Investigative Journalism Foundation (um:ag), the project will span 36 months, aiming to establish connections among university students aged 18-25 based on equality and zero discrimination through online and face-to-face activities.
The Council of Europe considers the empowerment of young people in human rights as a measure against the rise of violence, racism, extremism, xenophobia, discrimination, and intolerance. The Rights Project, created within this context, collaborates with young people to develop and promote a culture of human rights in society, creating democratic spaces for them to raise their voices. The project targets two separate groups: civil society organizations working with young people and university students aged 18-25 in Ankara, Diyarbakır, Hatay, Istanbul, Izmir, Mardin, Mersin, and Samsun, where face-to-face activities will take place.
Objectives of the Rights Project:
