CIA and MIT (January-June 1979)
“Minister of Foreign Affairs İhsan Sabri Çağlayangil, a key figure in Demirel governments, revealed the relationship between MİT and the CIA in his statement during a conversation with our friend İsmail Cem:
To strengthen its intelligence capabilities, Turkey maintains permanent and organic relations with Israeli Intelligence, American Intelligence, and Iranian Intelligence.
They secretly gather each year with their counterparts. They engage in intelligence exchanges in Washington, Tehran, Tel Aviv. They also seek advisory opinions from other intelligence organizations they believe in, even if there are no organic connections to be seen.
Now, since intelligence operatives have organic relations with Americans, they can easily collaborate by saying, 'This person is on my side, let's place him among the leftists.' This kind of cooperation can easily be carried out in the field of intelligence.
The intelligence chief, inspired by a foreign intelligence organization then comes to their own government head, and says, 'We will discuss the issues related to our Tel Aviv meeting.' They’ll bring the news, stating what and how it was said...
