Uğur Mumcu Investigative Journalism Foundation grants “Uğur Mumcu Special Award” as a symbolic gift presented to the individuals as well as institutions that contribute to the Foundation’s objectives. This Award is a crystal globe and represents the values that Uğur Mumcu appreciated throughout his life such as being scientific, investigative, innovative, having respect for the labour and resistance, as well as his attitudes that were always towards the truth, goodness, kindness and his qualities that can be summarized as honesty, intellectualness and transparency. Uğur Mumcu was a kind of person who performed journalism almost like a work of art. Moreover, this special award given in his memory was created in Paşabahçe Bottle and Glass Factories, under the control of Prof. Dr. Önder Küçükerman. Yunus Görmüş who is the oldest and most experienced glass expert in the factory gave the award its shape after months of endeavours.
Within those crystal globes, Uğur Mumcu’s thoughts and understanding of journalism are concentrated. They are called “For a one teardrop…” and given to the individuals as well as institutions that deserve.

He was awarded with Yunus Nadi Prize with his article titled "Turkish Socialism".
1979
By Turkish Law Association, he was elected "Legist of the Year ", and in the same year, was elected “Journalist of the Year” by Progressive Journalists Association (PJA).
1980
He shared Sedat Simavi Foundation Prize of Mass Media and Journalism with Cüneyt Arcayürek.
He received İstanbul Journalists Association’s prize in the category of investigation.
1982
He received İstanbul Journalists Association’s prize in the category of investigation.
1983
He received “Monumental Legist of the Republic” Prize by Balıkesir Bar Association.
He received İstanbul Journalists Associations’s reward in categories of interview and series of interviews.
1984
He got Nokta Journal’s Prize of “Top Journalist of the Year”.
1985
He got Nokta Journal’s Prize of “Top Journalist of the Year”.
1987
He received İstanbul journalists Association’s Prize in the category of current articles.
He got Nokta Journal’s Prize of “Top Journalist of the Year”.
He received Cumhuriyet Newspaper’s Prize of “Exemplary Journalism” for his efforts on The Connection Case.
1988
He received Sedat Simavi Foundation Prize of Mass Media and Journalism Award.
He got Cumhuriyet Newspaper’s "Bülent Dikmener News Prize".
He received Ankara Chamber of Medical Doctors.
He was awarded with “The Most Popularly Read Journalist Prize by Boğaziçi University.
