Building and Binding Networks Project Starts
The Uğur Mumcu Investigative Journalism Foundation (um:ag), in collaboration with the Olof Palme International Center, is launching a new project to promote and defend human rights, democracy, and the rule of law in Turkey. The project seeks to make a wide-ranging impact with the participation of civil society organizations (CSOs), journalists, activists, and academics.
Developments in the media landscape and the dynamics of information sharing have made the effectiveness of civil society organizations (CSOs) and the media even more significant. In this context, strengthening cooperation between CSOs and coordinating joint efforts is crucial.
Within this framework, um:ag aims to increase the effectiveness of human rights and environment-focused activities through CSO networks to be established in seven regions of Turkey and to amplify the voices of civil society with a rights-based approach. Our project facilitates effective dialogue within CSOs while also aiming to raise awareness of human rights and democracy by reaching broader segments of society.
The main activities of the project are as follows:
• Establish CSO networks in seven geographical regions and strengthen collaboration between these networks.
• Organizing training programs to help CSOs reach broader audiences through media and digital platforms.
• Organizing a “Dissemination Conference” where the results obtained during the project will be shared and evaluated.
We invite all CSOs, journalists, activists, and academics who wish to participate, contribute, and defend human rights and democracy in Turkey to collaborate with us.
